Favorite Friday: Favorite Place/Time to Read

Welcome back to the fourth (or fifth depending on how you look at it) favorite Friday! This week I’m going to talk about when and where I like to do my reading. Feel free to join in and post your responses too, and be sure to tag me so I can read them(:

If it isn’t already obvious by my blog title, I am a complete night owl. Like, borderline vampiric night owl most of the time. So, it should come as no surprise that night (or I guess reaaaally early morning sometimes) is when I do most of my reading. I am most productive at night in general, partially because I am an expert at procrastinating. But mostly, I enjoy how quiet the world is. I am someone who is very easily distracted, so I find the time I can best immerse myself in a book is generally while the rest of the world sleeps.

Going along with that same theme, my favorite place to read is either my bed, or the living room couch. My room is always quiet, so I can read there any time. But when everyone else is asleep in my house, I like to curl up on the couch with a snack and a blanket for hours at a time.

I have always wanted to be someone who could read in cute aesthetic places like coffee shops, bookstores, or parks, but there is just too much else to see! I end up paying more attention to the people, or bugs, to get much of anything done. Maybe if I find a really good instrumental reading playlist someday, but for now, I’ll just stick to the comforts of home.

I feel my answer may have been a bit anticlimactic, but there it is! Feel free to comment or post your own Favorite Friday for today’s topic.

Happy reading!

  1. I think I am a mixed of both early and late. I enjoy getting up early but also the lay evenings. It is the afternoon hours between 5 and 7 that are difficult for me.

  2. For a moment there I thought I was reading about myself, haha! I tend to read/write at night, mainly because it’s the only time I can do so without interruptions.

  3. Who wouldn’t like a cute book-nook to read! I’d forget the world there, but since I don’t have one, yet, I tune out the world while I’m reading.

  4. I really enjoy reading at night, but I think my favorite time might be reading over lunch break any time I have one at work. Something about it being a break makes it feel a little more relaxing I guess.

  5. I am also a sofa reader! I would love to read in bed but there’s no comfy position. One day I would love to have a porch swing to read on with a blanket and cushions but since I live in Scotland I’d need the whole country to agree to better weather first!

  6. Same – can’t read in any of those instagramable places, it’s bed for me: half lying down / propped up with pillows, looking down with a very unflattering double chin 😀

  7. I definitely find myself reading more often at night and I find it easier to slip inside of a story then too, but sadly life prevents me from doing that all too often anymore

  8. I quite like reading in coffee shops. I think the buzz of people’s chatter and the sound of the coffee machines acts as a white noise so I can completely zone out and focus on my book. When I’m at home, my favourite place to read is on my couch or on my balcony if the weather allows for it!

  9. I also love reading at night! Especially when everyone in my house is asleep, that way I’m not interrupted while reading 🙂

  10. I ❤️ reading in my oversized chair in my living room. The only time I read in my bed is if I wake up really early and don’t want to get up yet.

  11. I am completely the same way. I just feel like I think better at night. I notice I tend to do more reading on a couch because I usually end up taking my laptop on my bed with me (It’s a habit I’m trying to work on), but I like reading in bed better.

  12. Just wanted to let you know I nominated you for a Liebster Award! I’m not sure if award posts are something you do, so absolutely no pressure. I mainly wanted to express my appreciation for your blog and for the new titles you’ve added to my to-read list! 😊
